What size

The type of pet you get that needs live feeder crickets in its diet is what determines whether what size of crickets that you require. Generally, we recommend choosing crickets that are smaller that the width of your pets’ mouth. This way no complications come from them trying to eat something too large that could cause issues with consumption and digestion.

How long

You may be wondering how long the live crickets you order live for, and the answer is entirely up to you. If they are taken care of, they will continue to live and grow. However, keep in mind this ties into our previous point about size, in that as they continue to grow, they may grow too large for your pet to consume. So, make sure you order the size small enough that your pet can eat through your entire order, which are set at a size that assumes a diet of around two weeks’ worth of crickets.

What to feed

Again, going our last point, crickets will live longer if their diet is well-maintained. Crickets always need access to fresh water in a shallow dish. If the dish is too deep, crickets may drown themselves getting water. They also need fresh fruits and vegetables for food, the best being potato, lettuce, apple, oranges, or pumpkin seeds.

Getting live crickets for a pet may seem like a hassle, but it’s easier than you think. If you make a routine for your cricket purchase and make their diet part of your weekly groceries, you’ll be well on your way to be a responsible pet owner and giving your pet the nutritious feeder crickets they need.
